US Congress Declares Pizza a Vegetable? Really?

Thank you SO much for your great response to the last post on Quinny's take on Sri Lankan Kale. In my almost two years of blogging, I have never felt like more of you saw a recipe post and were choosing to make that recipe that night. It was all very exciting! Please let us know if you loved it as much as we did or made any tweaks of your own that you particularly enjoyed. This is a group effort you know!

I'm wondering if you heard something last week about how our representatives in the U.S. Congress have voted to allow pizza to be considered a vegetable in our children's school lunch program?

I was all set to jump on the backlash bandwagon and share with you this priceless video from  Saturday Night Live:

But in doing more research about the story to write this blog posting, I discovered that reality has been twisted around, a lot. It's actually pretty complicated, and you can read about what really happened here.

But I still wanted to share the clip from SNL, because laughter is the best medicine.

And it's a great reminder that most information, whether it's coming from your friends or the other camp, is manipulated. Why? Because that gets us interested in a world where information is available everywhere at all times and en mass. So it's our responsibility to get the real story, no matter how bad or funny or embarrassing the original story sounds. It's probably not the truth.

But I still like the Kermit skit. 'Cause even if Congress didn't declare pizza to be a vegetable, they still suck when it comes to making laws about what humans should eat and what should be okay to feed our kids at school.

Have a great day y'all!
