What it Means to be a Cancer Survivor

The term survivor has different meanings for different people. One widely used definition of a survivor is any person who has been diagnosed with cancer, whether or not he or she has completed treatment. More active screening practices, earlier detection and advances in medical and surgical treatments have all contributed to increased survivorship among cancer patients in the United States.
