Construct My Career is an initiative of the Construction & Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) . It has its origins during the Government’s Career Advice Australia (CAA) program when CPSISC was contracted to provide industry career information to a national network of Regional Industry Career Advisers. When the CAA program ended in 2009 the CPSISC Board agreed that career information was an essential part of addressing skills shortages and that it would continue to support the project.
The Challenge
People are generally unaware of the breadth of the construction and property services industries and the careers that are on offer. This includes career advisers, young people and their parents/families, and people who are looking for a career change.
People’s perceptions of the construction and property services industries are outdated, narrow and erroneous.
There is an under-representation of women in building and construction, particularly at trades level, which exacerbates skill shortages.
Our mission
To promote the construction and property services industries, and the careers that are on offer, to career advisers, young people and their parents/families, and people who are looking for a career change;
to encourage/advocate the employment of women in building and construction;
to be a point of contact in the construction and property services industries for anyone seeking career advice; and to have or to be able to find the answer to any reasonable career question.
